PTA Meeting with Special Guest, Dr. Paolucci-On Wednesday, October 2 we have our next PTA meeting at 6:30 at LaPerche. Please join us as special guest, Dr. Judy Paolucci, Superintendent of Smithfield School joins us to discuss the building project, the budget calendar for FY21, opportunities for engaging the community and how she can support our work. The fifth grade committee meeting will follow at 7:30. We look forward to you joining us!
School-wide Expectations-As you know, LaPerche is implementing the program Responsive Classroom (RC) building wide. One part of Responsive Classroom is CARES which stands for Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy and Self Control. Each month the school will focus on one word at a time starting with Cooperation during October. Please see the School-Wide Expectations to see how we are defining each word for the school. Look for information in classroom and school updates about RC and please reinforce the definitions at home.
LEAP Classes-LEAP classes (after school enrichment classes) begin next week. A flyer with all the details can be found here and is being sent home in your child’s homework folder today. A big thank you to Hannah Caisse for running the LEAP program! Classes fill up quickly so sign up today! The online link to register will go live at 4:00 today.
5th Grade Car Wash-On Saturday, October 5, please join us at Fast Freddie's at 471 Putnam Pike in Smithfield and have your car washed by our fifth grade students! Students will be there from 10:00-2:00 pm. Thank you for supporting the kids.
Costume Drive-Girl Scout Troop 323 continues to collect costumes for their costume drive. This is part of their bronze project. If you have any gently used costumes you would like to donate please send them in with your child. There is a bin across from Mrs. Martel’s classroom where it can be placed. See the attached flyer for additional details.
Guitar Classes-Our Guitar class information had a typo in the flyer and listed Thursday and Friday as the days for the classes. The actual day is Thursday and classes begin this Thursday, October 2 at 8:00. If you are interested, text the instructor, Christine Chito at 401-714-5407.
Checking the Backpack-We have noticed many items coming to school that should remain at home. Please check your child’s backpack for toys, body spray, make-up, nail polish and other items that do not belong at school. Pokemon cards and other trading cards are allowed.
Box Tops-This year Box Tops is going digital. When you have 1 minute check out this video and start scanning your receipts! LaPerche PTA earns 10 cents for each one.
Picture Day Photos-Picture Day pictures have arrived and are coming home with your child today. Each student should have received a class picture whether they ordered a package of individual photos or not. On the back of the envelope is a list of directions and numbers to call if you want a retake, received the wrong number of prints, are missing your class photo, or have any other questions. If your child did not receive an envelope at all, please call 1-401-828-5220. If needed, picture retakes are Wednesday, October 16, 2019.
Feinstein Card- Students are also coming home with a Feinstein Journal to record all of the good deeds they perform this school year. On the back of the Feinstein Journal is the Feinstein card. This card provides free admission for your child and an adult to many wonderful places including the Provides Children’s Museum, the Mystic Aquarium, Battleship Cove and more!
