Mission Statement

The mission of R.C. LaPerche Elementary School, as an inclusive learning community devoted to high standards and best teaching practices for all students, is to inspire life-long learning and to develop responsible, self-confident children capable of effective communication and problem solving, through a collaboration of parents, teachers, students, and the community, which fosters a safe, respectful environment, recognizing diversity and individuality.

Town Meetings and Spirit Days

                                              Spirit Days 2015-2016


Every 5th grader at LaPerche serves on the Student Council for one month.  One job of the student council it to determine the monthly spirit days.  

The 2015-2016 student council has chosen the following spirit days for LaPerche!  


Every Friday, LaPerche students are encouraged to wear their LaPerche Spirit Wear!


September--Tuesday, October 6-Honor Day--To honor the military, wear camouflage or red, white and blue.  To honor the police wear blue and white.  To honor firefighters, wear red.  To honor people who have been sick, wear the color or shirt from the organization.  For example, wear pink to support breast cancer awareness.  Wear gold to recognize childhood cancers.


October--Wednesday, October 21--Sports Day--Wear your favorite team’s jersey or colors or wear your own team gear!


Special Spirit Day--Friday, October 30--Wear your costume to school.  Please do not wear any masks, fancy shoes that are difficult to walk in or bring any weapons to school.


November-Wednesday, November 18--Pajama Day--Wear your pj’s to school!  Please keep your slippers at home!


December--Thursday, December 17--Stuffed Animal Day--Bring your favorite stuffed animal to school to spend the day with you.  Please choose one that is a perfect size for school and not too big.


January--Thursday, January 21--Fairy Tale or Superhero Day--Dress as your favorite Fairy Tale Character or Superhero.  As always, please refrain from wearing masks or bringing weapons to school.


February-Thursday, February 25--Movie and History Day--Dress as your favorite Movie Character or Historical Person.


March--Thursday, March 31--Tie Dye/Rainbow Day--Dress in all the colors of the rainbow and show your school spirit!


April--Wednesday, April 27--Twins Day--Dress the same as a friend or choose a theme for a class!


May--Thursday, May 26--Hawaiian Day--Dress in your best beach wear or Hawaiian clothes and get ready for summer!

Raymond C. LaPerche Elementary School is one of four elementary schools in the Smithfield Public School system. Our school is dedicated to Raymond C. LaPerche, a former teacher, principal and superintendent in the Smithfield Public Schools for 41 years. LaPerche first opened its doors in 1968 and presently serves students in kindergarten to grade five.
